Inspirational Quotes That Prove Travel is Transformative
Inspirational quotes are meaningful in different ways for everyone. Some people may turn to quotes for inspiration to overcome an obstacle set before them while others seek reminders of how they’ve persevered. Others turn to quotes that perfectly describe their feelings for their sweetheart or humanity as a whole.
Like many others worldwide, I turn to inspirational quotes to lift my spirits when I feel discouraged. They remind me that I’m not alone and that people all over the world experience setbacks and negative emotions.
The quotes at the top of my favorites list are those that affirm my belief that travel can be transformative, especially for people battling mental health issues such as depression or anxiety.
Inspirational Quotes That Prove Travel is Transformative
I suffered depression and anxiety for years, but once I started traveling more, something changed in me. With each trip I took, my mental health improved, and my perception of the world and how I see myself in it shifted. I knew it wasn’t going ever to change back.
Because of this transformation, I travel differently than I ever have before. I went abroad for the first time in a decade and traveled solo to New Zealand for three months. I often turn to the following nine quotes to help remind me of the changes I’ve gone through and for inspiration to continue pushing myself to grow.
1. “Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind.” – Seneca
The essence and ethos of this blog lie in the words of this first quote. If you are feeling down, go somewhere new and fresh. You’ll feel invigorated and renewed.
2. “Travel is more than the seeing of sights. It is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the minds of the living.” – Miriam Beard
This one really says it all, doesn’t it?
3. “A person is but the product of their thoughts. What they think, they become.” – Mahatma Gandhi
This quote can have many meanings. To me, it helps me remember that if I think I’m a capable, confident solo traveler, then I am indeed a capable, confident solo traveler.
4. “If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try.” – Seth Godin
The “what ifs” of travel should be embraced as opportunities for growth instead of limitations.
5. “The journey is the reward.” – Proverb
You are rewarded with lessons and insights about yourself by everything you do, see, and experience on your travels.
6. “A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes
Experiences like traveling to a new country or exploring your own town in a new way, traveling long-term, or moving to a foreign country for work. The things you learn along the way change the way you think about the world and of yourself.
7. “One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller
Travel is a way to see new destinations and an opportunity to learn how to see the world differently. Your view of the world shifts with each place you visit and new person you meet.
8. “I am not the same, having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.” – Mary Anne Radmacher
Not only the moon but also the southern night sky, epic foreign landscapes, and world-famous landmarks. You are forever changed once you see them for yourself, not on a computer screen.
9. “Travel brings power and love back into your life.” – Rumi
Travel gives you confidence, self-worth, and hope – all things lost for those who experience depression.

I love quotes! โฅ Especially travel quotes!
These I have never heard before but I found my favorite one:
โA person is but the product of their thoughts. What they think, they become.โ
I’m glad you like these ones. They mean a lot to me.
Hi Brittany! Kia Ora from NZ! Girl I agree with you travel is so good for mental health. It gives you a challenge, something to look forward to and a new perspective. I was so anxious an depressed before I came to NZ but now that I’m here I am a new woman. Travel can’t solve or stop our problems but it can help us learn new ways of coping and overcoming. Hope you are well girl. Hugs from NZ!
I’m thrilled that you’re having such a great time! <3
