Travel Movies That Will Transport You Around the World

Stuck at home with a burning case of wanderlust? Maybe you’re hunkered down during a slow travel season, or you’re staying home to save up the money for your next big adventure. Or you’re home because of an unexpected injury, illness, or some emergency. Whatever your reason is for not traveling, watching travel movies might scratch that itch for you.

Take a look at this list of my favorite travel movies if you’re in the mood for some armchair travel. Maybe there are a few you haven’t seen yet!

My Favorite Travel Movies

You don’t have to go far to have a great travel experience. You don’t even have to leave the comfort of home as long as you have a travel mindset. One way to get into a travel mindset is to watch movies filmed in the places you wish to travel to.

In no particular order, here are the movies that get me in a travel mindset when I’m in between travels. I recommend you watch as frequently as needed.

Time travel is also a form of travel, no?

Ways To Watch Your Favorite Travel Movies

You know I like to save a buck! I haven’t had cable service in ages, so here are the ways I watch my favorite travel movies.

Old school DVDs – Yes, I have a ton of DVDs and an “old” DVD player. Who else still uses their old DVD player? Let’s be ancient together.

Borrow from Kanopy – This is a streaming service you can utilize for FREE through your local public library – just like e-books! You must be a member of the library with a current library card to use Kanopy. It works on AppleTV, Roku, FireTV, and other streaming devices, or watch movies on your computer, Kindle Fire, iPhone, or other devices. Sign up for Kanopy today!

Streaming – If you’re paying for a streaming service (or two or three), get your money’s worth by searching those platforms before buying. I use Amazon Video and Hulu most frequently.

Rent or buy digital copies – I rent or buy a digital copy of movies I love as a last resort. I usually use Amazon Video or iTunes through my Apple TV.

>> All movies available to stream, rent, or buy from Amazon Video are linked above. Some are available through Prime Video Channels like STARZ, HBO, or Showtime that you can add to your account for an additional monthly fee. Try it out for free before committing!
